Sophomore Year

September 24th, 2007

PatSo sophomore year has begun, and I seem to have found myself a little overburdened. I have 18 hours, plus a job and NROTC, so I don’t get much free time, hence the lack of comics. I’m trying to get some time for the comic, but the way I see things, we may only be updating once a month or so, at least until I can get a good schedule for comics going. I really enjoy doing this, but as a hobby, it has to come second to my higher priorities.

Sophomore Year

September 4th, 2007

PatWell, school is back in session. I’ve actually been in for a week and a half now, so things have been hectic. This of course is reflected in the long comic delay; it took me two and a half weeks to get this one strip done. I have a rough schedule, but I plan on attempting the one a week updates as before. Hopefully I won’t have to resort to two panel fillers. I am liking the newer style I’m using- the smaller characters and more intense background, and the six panel was fun. Feel free to comment on the work and whatnot, i could use the criticism and or suggestions for material. It’s gonna be a long semester, but I think both the comic and the cartoonist can survive….I hope.

And for those of you wondering as to the comic’s name, I plan on setting things straight around Christmas, or strip 100, whichever seems easier to fit into our “plotline.”

Summer Camp Season

June 16th, 2007

PatSadly, now that I am at camp, I seem to have less time to make the strips. I’ll be doing what I can, but there may be a lax in comics until mid-July. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Finals Week

May 6th, 2007

PatSo for those of you who may or may not be loyal readers, I am sorry for not getting a comic in recently. Its finals week, and so I’m really busy with….everything. Everything is crashing down right about now. I have a comic that’s about half finished, and I should get to that within the next few days, but we’ll see. I’m still working on a lot, and we’re still keeping this going, so stay tuned for more from USSR Comics.

Great Start

February 28th, 2007

PatI have to say, we started this not knowing what to expect. I was just sketching for fun, and didn’t really expect this many people to enjoy the strip. I checked the numbers on thewebcomiclist, and we’re 740 or 8457, which puts us in the top 10 percent! This is really a boost to my ego, and I think I’ll try to keep making strips, hopefully more throughout each week, and I think due to the great changes on the site by our webmaster, I’ll start going full color at strip 50. Thanks to all of you who read USSR Comics regularly, or just glance at it. You guys make a cartoonist feel proud…or at least justified for his work…

Big Changes!

February 24th, 2007

JohnWell we’re almost done moving to a new system to manage and organize our comics! The biggest noticeable change is that the archives page now lists titles for each comic and allows you to sort them however you want. There is also a column for the date, although that’s inaccurate right now. Fixing it is another thing on our todo list. I hope everything works fine (I coded a lot of it very quickly) so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you see any problems!

PatWe’re putting the comic on Onlinecomics.net, so hopefully we’ll get some more traffic to our site. For those that are new to USSR Comics (which should be a lot of you), feel free to click around- check out the bios and older strips, feel free to email either of us with questions/compliments/complaints, or check out some other strips that I hope we’ll be as popular as one day. I’m enjoying this project, and I hope you guys and gals will too.

Holidays are Here

November 28th, 2006

PatDue to Post-Thanksgiving Stress, I might not have comics up in a bit, but I did get three done over the weeklong break, except that I had no internet connection and they were all posted after I got back. I have a ton of stuff to do in the next few weeks, so comics may be sparse (not like its any change). Hopefully I cna get a few done before the mad rush for studying for finals starts…two days ago…

Somehow I don’t think anyone cares what I write, but once we get a viewer population, we’ll see.

Massive Update

October 30th, 2006

PatHuzzah! I finally got all the old comics texted, and even some new ones! We should be at 20 by Halloween, with a special color strip. Don’t expect to see that again for another 20 strips- as easy as it is to color them, I still want to work on shading and color schemes, and I’m still working on the drawing process itself.

Oh, and if anyone sees our editor, tell him to return to work…

Site Colors

October 25th, 2006

JohnI’ve been experimenting with the colors and layout recently. So if everything looks really ugly don’t be alarmed, it should only be temporary. I plan on getting a good color scheme set up soon.
